Depression Awareness Month: You Don’t Have to Navigate It Alone

Depression can affect how a person thinks, feels, connects with others, and moves through everyday life. For many people, it can be difficult to recognize, even harder to talk about, and easy to hide behind a smile, a busy schedule, or the expectation to simply “push through.”
This Depression Awareness Month, Cultivate Community Foundation is helping create space for more honest conversations about mental health, emotional wellness, and the importance of reaching for support before challenges become a crisis.
Depression does not always look the same from person to person. Someone may feel persistent sadness, exhaustion, hopelessness, irritability, disconnection, or a loss of interest in the things they once enjoyed. Others may simply know that something feels different and not know where to begin.
That is why education, connection, and accessible resources matter.
At Cultivate Community Foundation, we believe people should have opportunities to learn, connect, and receive support earlier. By reducing stigma and making mental health conversations more approachable, we can help individuals and families feel less alone and more empowered to take the next step toward well-being.
